MY JOURNEY WITH 3D LENTICULAR PHOTOGRAPHY
In 2007 I visited a 3D Center and saw a beautiful 3D lenticular photograph of a Hollywood movie portrait. It inspired me tremendously, so I decided to attend many 3D classes taught by Shab Levy. As I went along, I looked at all the works by other artists in Lenticular 3D, but I didn't see any Lenticular landscape photos. Also, many artists' work had a blurry background. I wanted to have a beautiful 3D landscape with a high depth of field, which meant that both foreground and background needed to be in focus. In order to create this dynamic, I had to make my own long 3D slide bar for the camera to sit on since equipment on the market lacks a sufficiently long enough slide bar to enable this sort of work. While I was occasionally lucky to secure a shot on the first attempt, often I would spend many days working on most projects. For instance, with my Columbia River Gorge photograph, I had to make 5 trips to photograph the place. Editing on computer is another time consuming task, each trial take me 2 hours to complete and not always lucky for first shot, it could take me up to 4 trials to make it.
I am proud to present my 3D Lenticular landscape photography. I never thought I could do this, and accomplishing my dream has inspired me to want to share how to see landscapes in a new way with the world. I feel that my lenticular landscape photography evokes a sense of reality and enchantment and is great for decorating your home or business to amaze your guests.
Talking about my background. I earned an AA degree at De Anza College. I practiced portrait photography as a hobby since 1995, then undertook a professional course in photography and graduated in 2005. I
initially did wedding portraits and gallery photography businesses until falling in love with 3D Lenticular landscape photography. While I still enjoy flat photo on paper or canvas, I hope to conjure a sense of wonder in sharing my 3D Lenticular photography with you.
I was seriously committed to this art. Lenticular 3D landscape is a rare skill that not many people know. I took a number of classes and spent many years researching and practicing to accomplish this art. I would estimate that there are not many Lenticular 3D photographers in the entire world, especially in the Lenticular 3D landscape field, so I hope to bring this nouveau style
to the world's view. With this rare art, I believed will makes the world a more interesting place.
All of my artworks are handmade one by one and used high quality material and inks, the quality are far much more superior and more natural looking than a cheap commercial out there. I used Epson inks which last more than 100 years and USA made Lenticular lenses. My artworks are also a real time taken 3D which means they are not conversion from a 2D photo, so you could see the 3D effects naturally in details such as the bush, the leaves etc...Please check out my gallery
